That wasn't the point. The offering was for 6+ mo but looking at the ad further one can deduce it is really 3 months. So which is it 3 or 6, it helps to know these things up front so that one can be prepared. I simply suspected it was a typo. These things happen. > Much easier to sit on the sidelines and carp. Additionally if some one doesn't grind the axes then when the heads need to roll there is no sharp ax to use. ;') Of course, it does no one any good to rant about the faults of an ad placed in a sincere desire to find a qualified candidate and thus reduce the level of unemployment. However, I have no problem carrying on a discussion on such, once the can has been opened. ;') Brian

If you don't like it or smell a rat, walk on by. I for one appreciate seeing Linux job postings, even though I'm not in the market for a job. It gives me a means by which to gauge how people are actually using Linux. But hell, even an entry level position is a foot in the door. And whether it is 3 months, 6 months or 10 years is more likely to be determined by whether or not you're a pleasant person to work with, whether you're any good at the primary job role, and whether you're hopelessly over- or under- qualified. And probably in that order. Though I suppose it is much easier to sit back and assume conspiracy theories and plots against yourself. Much easier to sit on the sidelines and carp. LAX Outage due to Windows Crash

According to TechWorld (http://www.techworld.com/), recent outages at LAX are due to poor integration of an "upgrade" from Unix to Windows: http://www.techworld.com/opsys/news/index.cfm?NewsID=2275 They report that "The servers are timed to shut down after 49.7 days of use in order to prevent a data overload, a union official told the LA Times. To avoid this automatic shutdown, technicians are required to restart the system manually every 30 days. An improperly trained employee failed to reset the system, leading it to shut down without warning...". I dunno about the rest of you, but I can schedule a Windows server to reboot once a week if it's running software suspected of not releasing resources when it should. Wonder why they can't? Wasn't it Microsoft itself that said that Windows should NOT be use for "Mission Critical Applications"?

I have just one question on your new filesystem. With my quantum discombobulator all things will become possible. Using my Heisenberg Compensator I will be able to store anything anywhere. Coming soon to a filesystem near you 1024-bit and after that, 64823408-bit. The scaling is amazing. And my new filesystem, 42FS, will move at incredible speed. I will use a technique I learned in Boy Scouts to fold space using a paperclip and a ball of twine and then pass the requested file information through the folded space to the quantum API. The information will move so fast at times, it will arrive before you ask for it. That's where the quantum discombobulator comes into play. I will actually have to slow some data down. Be careful if you use MS SQL Server, it will assume it has the right to take control of all memory space, have full access to all system resources and attempt mind control, even if you are only using it to store addresses and/or recipes. Next stop, storing your personal data files in the spaces within your DNA. Talk about portability.
