OT: Free Wireless Internet in KC

I'm off at an art fair with my artist wife in Oklahoma City. Our hotel didn't come with free wireless internet, but the IHOP across the street did. I'm sending this E-mail from that very IHOP (although the signal was strong enough to reach out to the parking lot). I'm curious: where in KC have people found equally free (or free with a food purchase) wireless Internet access? I know some of the Panera Bread restaurants have them, but it would be interesting to find out places which already have it to schedule alternative LUG and other computer group meeting locations. I must sign off as the battery power in the laptop is getting low. Which is another thing: when you post locations with free wireless Internet access, be sure to note locations of power outlets as some of us have laptops without good batteries. This IHOP doesn't really have a table with a power outlet near it. ===== And I always thought: the very simplest words Must be enough. A modern take on that would be one of those super bright white leds with a nice big roundish solid plastic lens to throw out a nice wide diffused beam. Hey ,that sounds like a fun experiment. But what about little sensors in the rocket, to track speed and altitude and transmit to a land-based Linux server, running a graphical plot of the rocket? Maybe even add a little spy cam to transmit video back to the server?

Open Source and Values

I've been reading George Lakoff, and doing a lot of thinking about values, lately. My own values as well as those of others. I know what it is about open source software that appeals to my values. You can look at the list in my sig and get an idea of the values I'm talking about, and you can imagine how OSS fits into them, but I don't want to bias the discussion too much beforehand with my opinions. I will offer those up later. What I would like to know from some of you guys is, which of your values are best served by OSS? Please let me know either directly in confidence, or publicly to the list, where you consider yourself on the conservative/moderate/progressive political spectrum, and what it is about OSS that appeals to you. I'm especially anxious to hear from my LUG friends on the right of the spectrum, as that is more difficult for me to understand. Once I've heard several opinions, I plan to formulate some kind of summary explanation, or theory, that connects different values and the open source movement. Both now bookmarked in Firefox, which is where I have decided to manage this stuff for the time being. BTW, while fiddling around in the Firefox bookmarks, I found the link to RealPlayer movie trailers. The RP site is more generous with bandwidth than the Apple QuickTime trailer site. You win, i think. Drat, drat and double drat! If I'd only kept that SW receiver I built in 1972, or the transmitter my brother built in the 60s complete with vacuum tubes. So anyone ever use any of the HAM radio options in the kernel? And what's up with that anyway? What use is HAM radio to a computer? Computer generated Morse code? Like there's any living mortal that could translate that! Now using a Linux computer to track a model rocket's statistics, that would be useful! I need to get out and do some model rocketry. Any local places to shoot off some really *BIG* suckers? I know they've got something out Kansas way, but can't remember where. But something up NorthEast here would be nice.
