What Jacob wants to do is login to his desktop locally via XDM, GDM, KDM, 
etc., do some work, walk away from it, and then resume where he left off 
from another machine via VNC.  Or, he wants to allow users to login to the 
machine and if they have problems when he is not nearby he can remote 
control the user's current session via VNC --- similar to NetMeetings 
remote control features.  What your describing will not work.
