Subject: 0.98pl6 Kernel Question?
Date: Thu, 10 Dec 1992 15:29:34 GMT

Hello fellow kernel makers!

  Questions: 1) With 0.98pl6 and LILO 0.6 (can't get 0.7 to compile),
should I use the US keyboard in Makefile if I am
resident of USA. I know this sounds stupid, but with
"vmlinux" kernel I got with GCC, emacs arrow keys work.
                With mine, they don't.

             2) Again, 0.98pl6 and LILO 0.6; I have tried every
combination I can think of in Makefile with SVGA...
variable. Still I get weird 132 column text mode
on my paradise VGA card. More frustrating still,
I can't get my image to prompt for video type when
booting. I tried commenting out the variable to
                no avail...

My config: 1) 486/33 AMI motherboard, AMI BIOS
             2) Paradise VGA (no SVGA)
             3) GCC distribution of Linux. Laid "libc.so.4.2" and
"inc41.tar" on top. No SLS stuff being used at this
                time.

Note: 1) Kernel compiles quite easily, just would like to kill
                bugs listed in "Questions" above.

Any takers? Sure would appreciate it!
