Getting only an "L" means that LILO can't load its second stage loader.
Maybe Bootmanager is doing something evil here ...

Well yes, LILO can probably do that if OS/2 is on a primary partition.
Old-style configuration: os2=/etc/lilo/chain.b+/dev/hdaxx@/dev/hda
New-style configuration:
other = /dev/hdaxxx
table = /dev/hda
label = os2
