Have you had problems with bash's builtin echo? I have been using bash
version 1.12.5 with 0.98 pl6 since pl6 came out, and the builtin echo
doesn't seem broken to me.

I would say if it isn't broken, don't worry about it. If you are having
problems, someone recently posted echo.c; also, I think that an echo program
was ported (from SYSV?) and is probably available on one of the Linux ftp
sites.
