it basically doesn't get me too much. One disk worked, 10 didn't.
I found that on the one that worked I had to format it twice, since the
first time reported about 150KB bad on a known good disk.

THe other disks show more like 150MB good (!) on known good disks.

The frustrating thing is that everything looks fine and dandy if
the disks were used under DOS. It's only the linux-ized disks that DOS
can't handle.

One message that comes up is somthing like "Bad block 0".

that's the next thing to try, but I guess I'll make sure I'm not next to
the hard disk at that time :-)
